What it does

  • A front page with the paper’s name, the date of the edition, your headline, the front-page story and a photo. The age, the “70th Birthday Edition” line and “Est. 1956” are worked out from the dates you enter, and so is the day of the week they were born.
  • The Chronicle: up to 12 milestones, sorted by year, in newspaper columns.
  • A photo chronicle with captions. Photos get a sepia, black-and-white or faded look with newsprint dots – readers can tap “Show in colour”.
  • Quotes of the day, a playful interview and small “In other news” corners such as a weather report – all written by you.
  • A message at the end.
  • Print edition: two pages for US Letter, A4, A3 and Tabloid (11×17). The type size adjusts so your text fits on two pages.
  • An optional second language with a switch, including right-to-left languages such as Hebrew and Arabic. Two colour themes, each with a dark mode.

How it works

  1. Download and unzip. Open editor.html in your web browser on a computer. No internet, no account.
  2. Look at the made-up example, press Start my own and write your news. Add photos: they are made smaller and their location data is removed.
  3. Press Download my site. You get a ZIP with the finished paper (index.html + assets + the print pages) that opens with a double-click.

What you receive

  • START-HERE.pdf (0.21 MB)
  • Envelo-Gazette-v1.0.zip (1.89 MB)

Inside the ZIP:

  • editor.html: the builder, opens in your browser and works offline
  • example-site/: a finished 70th birthday edition for made-up Maggie, with its print pages (26 files)
  • HOW-TO-PUBLISH.md: free ways to put your paper online and how to print it
  • LICENSES.txt and WHAT_YOU_GET.txt

Good to know

  • This is a do-it-yourself builder. You write the news and add the photos; we do not make the paper for you.
  • There is no real news from the birth year: everything in the paper is family news written by you.
  • Hosting, a domain name and a public link are not included. To share the paper as a link, upload the folder to a web host. HOW-TO-PUBLISH shows free options; they are run by other companies and their terms can change.
  • You print it yourself. A3 and Tabloid need a print shop or a large printer. Nothing is shipped.
  • A QR code is made only after you paste the real address of your published paper.
  • The builder is in English; you write the text of the paper in your own words and languages.
  • For your own birthday gift or party. Please don't resell or share the files.
  • Preview images were made with AI image tools and show made-up people. Your paper uses your own photos and words. The builder and the paper screens are the real product.
