What it does
What you can do
- Type the stitches wide and high, the fabric count (14 count Aida, 28 count linen…) and over 1 or 2 threads – or the size you measured
- Choose the space you want round the design: StitchMount gives the mat opening
- List the frames you could buy by their picture size: it shows which fit, turned to your design, the smallest first – with the mat borders at the sides and at the top and bottom, or how much too small each one is
- See the fabric to cut to lace or pin it over the mounting board
- Find the smallest standard hoop (3 to 14 in) that shows the whole design, and the fabric for it
- Print a framing plan: 180 × 250 mm, drawn to scale with every size written true and a 10 cm ruler to check the print – download as SVG or print at 100 % on A4 or US Letter
- Centimetres or inches; your frame check as a CSV table; backup and restore
Example inside
A made-up sampler of 112 × 84 stitches on 14 count Aida: 20.3 × 15.2 cm finished, a 24.3 × 19.2 cm mat opening with 2 cm round it. Of six common frames, 11 × 14 in is the smallest that fits with a 4 cm mat: borders of 5.65 cm at the sides and 4.35 cm top and bottom, and 45.6 × 37.9 cm of fabric to lace. In a hoop it needs the 14 in size.
